I am trying to teach myself 3d modeling in Rhinoceros 5. I am trying to learn how to use t splines. My question is, how do you make the t spline curve in Rhino 5? I found a video on YouTube, but he never explains what he does to make the curve in Rhino 5. - Anonymous comment submitted via our contact form. Hi! Thanks for your message - I can help! The video you're referring to is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVYYNVtp4eM#t=49m18s . Look at the first 4:20 of the video and take note of what's going on. The red and green lines you see there are what you're trying to create in Rhino 5. What those lines do is connect points that are close together. Another way to explain it might be to say that those two lines connect two points that are very close together, ie close enough that if you rotated each one by a few degrees, they would still be touching. The goal with creating splines in Rhinoceros 5 is to have them go through all sorts of angles, not just one angle. Rhino 5 is a bit pickier about making splines than Rhino 4 was, and I think that might be why you're having difficulty. As for how you create those lines... Look at the second video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYtY7jaS3W8 . If you want to follow along, pause the video on the page where it shows those red and green lines moving on an angle and see if you can recreate what he's doing with them....don't just copy-paste them, but rather try to figure out what he did to make them move that way. The two important things to notice about the video you linked are that 1) he did make the red and blue splines move on an angle, and 2) he didn't rotate his object. Four other things I'd like you to think about: 1) His spline is also not on a spline curve (it doesn't follow the curve very closely), 2) He did rotate his object, 3) He did make it follow the curve, 4) He did use another tool in Rhino 5 to align his objects so they moved in unison. If you want to take my word for it that's how he made those lines in Rhino 5... I've made those lines before and I'm telling you they're not as hard as you're making them out to be. He just does some steps a bit differently than me. If you want to make his exact spline, don't forget the video I linked is paused on a page where it shows an image of what it will look like if you make a certain set of curves in Rhino 5. If you want to figure out how he rotate those splines, go back one video and look at the red and green lines from that video - he rotates them slightly differently from the red and blue ones in that other video. 81eaaddfaf 47
